Backyard Pickleball Court & Putting Green
Some projects push you. This was one of them. At a private residence in Sedona, AZ, our Southwest Greens Flagstaff team turned a raw outdoor space into a fully functional backyard sports destination — an official-spec pickleball court paired with a custom putting green, all sitting on a sub-base built to go the distance.
Project Details:
- 1,760 sq ft pickleball court (including perimeter and border)
- Official pickleball court dimensions
- Pro Court 175SW surface with integrated white lines
- GB085 Olive border
- 285 sq ft putting green (not including fringe)
- GB177-301 putting surface with 5mm padding
- 140SW Olive fringe

Every great artificial turf installation starts long before the first roll hits the ground. We excavated the full surrounding area — pulling tons of earth and rock — and carefully transplanted every native shrub on-site. In Sedona’s high-desert environment, respecting the terrain isn't just good practice. It's the foundation for a surface that holds up for decades.
We hauled in over 75,000 lbs of base material — A/B and 1/4 minus Madison Gold — and built a sub-base that could take on anything. Laser leveled. Thoroughly compacted. Not a soft spot in sight. This is the kind of groundwork that separates a quality synthetic grass installation from one that looks great on day one and disappoints by year three.

The pickleball court follows official dimensions to the inch — roughly 1,760 square feet total once the perimeter and border are accounted for. We used the Pro Court 175SW and cut the white lines directly into the rolls for a clean, competition-grade finish. The border was completed in our GB085 Olive, a sharp contrast that frames the court and ties into the surrounding landscape.
The putting green — approximately 285 square feet of playing surface — was built for performance. Our GB177-301 artificial grass over 5mm padding delivers a consistent, true roll that holds up to serious short game work. The fringe border in 140SW Olive pulls the whole space together while keeping the playing surface and surroundings visually distinct.

Two surfaces. One cohesive outdoor space. Built with the same attention to process and materials that goes into every Southwest Greens installation — whether it's a single putting green or a full multi-use athletic facility. This is what a fake grass installation done right actually looks like.
